How we process your filesKeep transparent artwork usable in a PNG workflow
PNG can be useful when an editor does not accept WebP or when you need a widely accepted file for transparent artwork. The conversion can retain existing transparency, but it cannot recreate detail already lost in a compressed WebP.
Start with a static WebP
Choose the image you want to edit or share. Use the original source instead if you have it and need the best possible detail.
Check the transparent edges
After conversion, inspect shadows, outlines and small lettering. PNG stores the decoded image; choosing it does not automatically improve those details.
Plan for a possible size increase
Download the PNG and check the receiving app. Photographs can become much larger in PNG, so use JPG or keep WebP when transparency is unnecessary and the destination allows it.

Will PNG recover lost detail?
No. It preserves the image as decoded from WebP, including any existing artifacts.
When should I use PNG?
Use it when an editor or destination requires PNG, or when you need a widely supported format with transparency.
