Rotate a sideways image or flip one that needs to face the other direction. These are different operations: rotation turns the whole picture, while flipping mirrors it. Check any writing in the image before choosing a mirror effect.
Decide whether to turn or mirror
Choose 90°, 180° or 270° for orientation. Use horizontal or vertical flip only when you actually want a reflected image.
Check more than the main subject
Look at labels, numbers and signs as well as faces. Mirroring can make text unreadable even when the overall composition looks right.
Review dimensions after the turn
A quarter turn swaps width and height. Check any upload requirements afterwards, and keep your source: exporting a lossy format again can change image detail.
