BEFORE YOU START

See whether your WebP has room to shrink

A WebP file may already be compact, so another compression pass is not always worth it. Use this tool when a WebP still exceeds your needs, and compare the saving with any change to the image. Keep the best source instead of repeatedly editing the smallest copy.

  1. Choose the file you actually need to reduce

Add a static WebP and check its starting size. Plain compression keeps animated WebP unchanged rather than turning it into a single still image.

  2. Inspect the sensitive areas

Adjust quality and compare text, soft gradients and transparent edges. A setting that works for a photograph may be less suitable for a logo.

  3. Keep only a worthwhile result

Check the reported size before downloading. If there is little saving or visible damage, keep the source; changing dimensions may help more than another quality reduction.

WEBP COMPRESSOR FAQ

Frequently asked questions about WebP Compressor

Learn what the settings do and what to check in the finished image.

Can I compress animated WebP?

Plain compression keeps animated WebP unchanged. Operations that cannot preserve animation report an error rather than silently removing frames.

Does transparency remain?

WebP output supports transparency. Check fine edges and gradients after recompression.
