How we process your filesChoose how much of your PNG can change
PNG is useful for screenshots, diagrams and transparent artwork. Unlike a JPG photo, it does not respond to a quality slider in the same way. Here the useful choice is between preserving pixel data and reducing the number of colours.
Try lossless optimization first
Use it for screenshots with small text or artwork whose pixels must stay unchanged. It can reduce storage overhead, but an already optimized PNG may not get smaller.
Use fewer colours when suitable
Try colour reduction for a simple illustration or graphic. Compare gradients, shadows and partial transparency; these are places where a smaller palette can show.
Choose a different route if needed
For a very large photo saved as PNG, an accepted JPG or WebP may be more practical. Keep PNG when transparency or exact pixel preservation is the priority.

Which compression method should I choose?
Use lossless optimization when every pixel matters. Try colour reduction for graphics where a smaller palette is acceptable, then compare the result.
Why did the file size stay the same?
The PNG may already be optimized. We keep the original if the new version is not smaller.
