How we process your filesReduce photo size without guessing at quality
JPG compression is useful when a photo is too large to attach or publish. Lower quality usually means fewer bytes, but the trade-off is most noticeable around sharp edges and fine textures. You do not need to push the slider as low as it goes.
Use your best available copy
Add the original JPG rather than a version downloaded from a messaging app, if you have it. Earlier compression has already removed some detail.
Lower quality in small steps
Begin with the default and inspect a face, a label or a textured area. Stop when the file is small enough for your purpose and those details still look acceptable.
Check size and privacy separately
If you need a specific KB limit, use the target-size tool. If GPS removal matters, use the metadata tool: ordinary compression can keep the original file with its metadata.

Does compression remove GPS data?
Re-encoding usually removes embedded metadata, but keeping the original does not. Use Remove Image Metadata and verify the downloaded file when this matters.
How do I choose the quality?
Inspect fine detail in the comparison view. Choose the lowest quality that still looks suitable for your intended use.
